Jagdgeschwader 5 (JG 5) was a German Luftwaffe fighter wing during World War II. It was created to operate in the far north of Europe, namely Norway, Scandinavia and northern parts of Finland, all nearest the Arctic Ocean, with Luftflotte 5, created specifically to be based in occupied Norway, and responsible for much of northern Norway.

2023年1月13日 · In early May 1944, Dörr took command of III. Gruppe of JG 5 and led this unit till the end of war. Dörr was awarded the Ritterkreuz on August 19, 1944. He managed to down 122 enemy aircraft – his score is marked on the rudder of his personal Bf 109G-6, W. Nr. 411960.

All available records indicate that the II. and III./JG 5 were equipped with the Bf 109F-4 exclusively by the beginning of 1943. It is possible that the F-2 variant was also used, but although Rodeike/Prien claim that all gruppen were issued with this variant, it is hard to identify the Fs as such on photograhs.
