This IMS-DC tutorial will be helpful for Mainframe application program / Mainframe system programmer, to make them comfortable in getting started with IMS-DC and its various commands. Pre-requisites: You should be familiar with COBOL programming and IMS-DB database in order to learn this tutorial.

IMS provides for an interactive immediate access to the physical data. This is the Data Communications (DC) part of IMS. The I/O PCB provided by IMS that allows your program to process messages is not coded in your PSB.
