KVM (or rather in this case IP-KVM) is a remote management on a higher level, which includes IPMI functionality (though there are some older KVMs that use their own protocols), and also the over-the-network passing of keyboard/video/mouse so the physical server console can be remotely accessed.

Not IPMI as such, but the functionality is right there. EDIT: there is a fence-rhev agent available as well, so that would cover the power management part

In this scenario, the monitor is no longer connected to the dedicated graphics card so the server switches its output to the in built graphics (I assume this is a function of Windows not the hardware) and you can view the output on the java console. As long as I leave the KVM switched to another workstation, I can always access the RMM console.

I still had to add my IPMI IP to the exception site list, but this time after warning me that running the program could be risky, it still ran it after I confirmed. So, bottom line, downgrading Java worked. As for whether KVM consoles will be supported in the future by the browsers :

2019年9月16日 · I have a similar Asus board (X99-WS/IPMI) board with the ASMB8-iKVM that I wanted to get this feature working also for remote management, and be able to boot from other disks. The machine has a PCI/E Nvidia video card installed on the board, and the internal ASPEED VGA driver installed also.
