ISO paper dimensions provide a standardized international format based on metric dimensions. The basic size, A0, contains one square meter of paper, allowing all sizes to be commonly measured on the basis of grams per square meter. The proportion between the two sides of the sheet is specified as the square root of 2, or 1:1.4142.
