I recently came across a version I am considering purchasing that has a blue square in the centre with blue date wheel. I do wonder if the dial has been refinished tho. Is anyone aware if the watch was made with this type of ‘tuxedo’ dial?

2002年10月28日 · Some weeks ago, I made a post about square IWC models in my collection. I am very happy I could find another one to add to that collection, the ref 3279. It is a bit of a special one, not only a patented closing mechanism for the case and a special bracelet, I believe unique to this watch, but also for the caliber.

The original IWC crown is signed with their fish logo, meaning the watch is water resistant, in this case to 30 meters. Dimensions are 34mm square by 11.2mm thick. Dial is original and untouched. Silver color with brush finished innermost square area with applied “IWC” and granulated outer square border with applied silver hour markers.
