The IZh-81 (ИЖ-81) is a Russian pump-action shotgun. [1] In 1990s and even in year 2000 IZh-81 was the most common shotgun in private security companies in Russia. [3] In 1997, work began on creating a semi-automatic shotgun based on the design of IZh-81. In 1998, first MP-151 shotgun was made.

The IZH-81 shotgun is a manually operated, slide or “pump action” shotgun of fairly conventional design. It was sold in a variety of configurations, with fixed choke barrels 560, 600 or 700 mm long, and with a variety of stocks.

The Baikal IZh-81 was developed in 1993, based on the IZh-80. It was the first Russian pump-action shotgun which went into mass production, to compete with other shotgun designs on the open market. The IZh-81 was mass-produced from 1994 to 2000.
