I own both the IC-7300 and the IC-7610. The IC-7300 is a fine transceiver for outdoor use but in many aspects no match for the IC-7610. I think the price difference of about € 2.100 (here in the Netherlands) is fully justified. So if you can afford it, buy the IC-7610. You won't be disappointed.

After several decades of mostly Yaesu ownership, I purchased several Icom IC-7610's for use at my station. The first thing that surprised me was the easy to use touch screen user interface!! This radio is a joy to learn and use, and the important menus and functions can be "guessed" without ever opening the well written user manual.

The automatic ALC adjustment is great. The DPD function is a great feature. One thing to note when setting up the amp with an Icom IC-7610 is if your 7610 advanced manual doesn't have the section on the DPD function you must download the new advanced manual to be able to complete the setup. I got to say it was a very easy amp to setup.

Icom followed the IC-7300 with the IC-7610. But there was a longer than normal length of time from the initial announcement of the IC-7610 and its availability in NA. I was so impressed with the performance of the IC-7300 that I read and viewed everything I could about the IC-7610.
