In addition, there are 6M repeaters all over the country that extend the communication range to over the horizon distances, sometimes better than 200 km, depending on location.

The commercial grade Icom IC-T90A transmits on 6 meters, 2 meters and 440 MHz. The T90A is also a wide band AM, FM and Wide FM scanning receiver.

Old, yes, sorta' - Icom produced the "bookshelf" Icom 502A 6m portable but it was SSB/CW only. Had one, but was not exactly a handheld, more like strap over the shoulder, hihi.

The Icom IC-t90a is truly a fantastic HT. If you can grab one 2nd hand, I'd encourage you to do so. This and the Kenwood TH-f6A are the best HTs out there with wide band receive.
