Standard for the Australian Survey Control Network (SP1 ... - ICSM
The Standard for the Australian Survey Control Network – Special Publication 1 (the Standard) and associated Guidelines provide an outcomes based framework that supports the highest level of rigour and integrity in the delivery and maintenance of Australia’s survey control mark network.
SP1 (Standard Specifications and Recommended Practices for Horizontal and Vertical Control Surveys) was first published in April 1966. It was subsequently revised and reprinted in November 1976 and November 1981. These revisions were in general of a minor nature, being designed to introduce metric standards and a classification for Doppler surveys.
For more than forty years the 'Standards and Practices for Control Surveys' document, commonly known as SP1, has been the primary reference for control surveys by government in Australia. However, with limited revision, dramatic changes in technology and field survey methods, and its focus on measurement processes, SP1 has become dated.
SP1: What is it? It's government's way of telling you what it expects from a control survey that will be submitted to an agency... V1.7 is good, but dated... V2 is not good – it is vague and misses …

Least squares adjustment is the preferred method for the rigorous evaluation of the quality of GNSS measurements, including real-time measurements (Refer to the SP1 Guideline for the Adjustment and Evaluation of Survey Control for quantifying, …
SP1 - A New Standard for Control Surveys in Australia
2010年1月1日 · The new SP1 now directly connects an outcomes-based structure to the client's expectation; essentially the specification of datum and expected accuracy for a proposed control survey are balanced...
The Geodesy Technical Sub Committee (GTSC) of the Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM) is responsible for SP1. In Australia, SP1 has been the primary reference for control surveys by government and industry for 40 years.

The use of the term Local Uncertainty as defined in SP1 version 1.7 has been discontinued in this Standard. Version 2.2 of the Standard and associated Guidelines were released in December 2020 and contain updates to guide best practice methods of working in the Australian Geospatial Reference System (including GDA2020).
