The British Rail Class 801 Azuma is a class of electric multiple unit (EMU) built by Hitachi Rail for London North Eastern Railway. The units have been built since 2017 at Hitachi's Newton Aycliffe Manufacturing Facility and have been used on services on the East Coast Main Line since 16 September 2019.

The Class 800 was developed and produced, alongside an electric-only Class 801 variant, as part of the Intercity Express Programme (IEP) to procure replacements for the InterCity 125 and InterCity 225 fleets of high speed trains.

2021年1月25日 · All this talk of IET;s accelerating so much quicker than a Class 390 is absolute nonsense. A Class 801 does 0-125mph in 3 mins flat. The 390's take around 20 seconds longer. It makes very little difference on the road. There's only a few seconds in if you were to try and stage a drag race from 0 to 5 miles!
