Every country in which „independent activity in geodesy and geophysics has been developed“ is eligible for IUGG membership. We believe that IUGG membership contributes to the scientific well-being of our member countries, and may lead to economic benefits through enhanced exchange of scientific and technical expertise.

On behalf of the German National Committee of Geodesy and Geophysics (NKGG), and as Chair of the Scientific Program Committee (SPC), I welcome you to the 28th IUGG General Assembly in Berlin (IUGG2023).

The overarching goal of IUGG General Assemblies is to link the various geoscience communities, enhance the visibility and the capacities of early-career geoscientists, and foster future collaboration in geoscience worldwide. General Assemblies also presents a forum to discuss the Union’s activities and decide on its future scientific program.
