Intel needs GPU to stay relevant in the long term, and -$500 million is peanuts compared to the consequences of failing. With $27 billion cash in the bank, Intel's not going broke over GPU.

Jan 15, 2016 · Intel integrated graphics IS the market. Your fancy AMD and Nvidia GPU's are a drop in the bucket. This. Intel's integrated graphics are more than sufficient for pretty much everything but real gaming and CAD applications. That's a HUGE majority of the PC market.
