The intake/inlet over exhaust, or "IOE" engine, known in the US as F-head, is a four-stroke internal combustion engine whose valvetrain comprises OHV inlet valves within the cylinder head and exhaust side-valves within the engine block.

2019年4月28日 · (first posted 9/2/2013) The recent Jeep FC-150 and Jeep Commando CC with their Hurricane Four engine that featured an F-head (Intake Over Exhaust – “IOE”) cylinder head gave me the impetus to re-visit that rather unusual cylinder head arrangement, and consider its place in engine history.

2023年4月8日 · Rover’s IOE engine family was central to its products for very nearly 30 years, powering the cars between 1948 and 1967 and powering Land Rovers between 1948 and 1977 with a four-year break between 1958 and 1962. The engines were always very highly regarded, although they were certainly long in the tooth by the time they were eventually retired.

An increasing number of early sports racers used the Elva IOE engines including the Elva Mk.1 and Mk.1B and also the prototype Mk.II tested by Robbie Mackenzie-Low before being rebodied and fitted with a Climax FWA.

The intake over exhaust (IOE) engine, also known as F-head and pocket valve, is a Four-stroke internal combustion engine of primitive design used in early Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The design was also used in other motorcycles, and in car engines by various manufacturers.

IOE engine conversions. The Power-Master IOE conversion was designed by Ford tuning guru Bob Yeats, of Willment Speedshop Limited of Brentford, Middlesex. Elva Cars Limited also produced a similar conversion for the 100E motor. The merits of such a modification are discussed in P.J. Stephens' book from 1960, titled "Ford Specials"...

The Rover IOE engine family encompassed straight-4 (1.6- and 2.0-litres) and straight-6 (2.1-, 2.2-, 2.3-, 2.4-, 2.6- and 3.0-litres) engines and powered much of the company's post-war range in the form of the P3, P4 and P5 models. Adapted versions of the 1.6 and 2.0 IOE engines were used in early version of the Land Rover as well.
