The iPAQ is a discontinued line of Pocket PC devices produced from 2000 until 2010. It was first unveiled by Compaq in April 2000. iPAQ included PDA -devices, smartphones and GPS-navigators . A substantial number of devices were outsourced from Taiwanese HTC corporation .

The iPAQ has a serial port on the bottom of the unit which is used to reload its nonvolatile flash. This process is commonly called flashing the device. To install the iPAQ Reference Platform you will have to flash your iPAQ with the QNX image.

Hyperterminal can connect to an iPAQ via a serial connection. Create a new connection with the settings: 115200 baud, no parity, 8 bits,1 stop bit. It is recommended that you try to use hardware flow control, although you may have to set hardware flow control to none.

Connecting to your iPaq: Use hypertermand the iPaq cradle – first, find hyperterm program on your PC; second, attach the serial cable of your ipaq cradle to com1 of your PC; third, set up a new connection with properties: com1 115200/8/n/1/none (just fill in the blanks in that order); fourth, put your ipaq in the cradle.

An special connector Cable to attach the Serial Console of the iPAQ with an RS232 Connector / the Cisco Rollover Cable 2.) An Terminal Software.
