Fars province also known as Pars Province (Persian: استان فارس; / f ɑːr s /) [a] is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. Its capital is the city of Shiraz. [11] Fars province has an area of 122,400 km 2 and is located in Iran's southwest, in Region 2.

Pars (Middle Persian: 𐭯𐭠𐭫𐭮𐭩 Pārs) [1] was a Sasanian province in Late Antiquity, which almost corresponded to the present-day province of Fars. The province bordered Khuzestan in the west, Kirman in the east, Spahan in the north, and Mazun in the south.
