Five MkIV APCs were ordered by the Irish government in December 1977, but deliveries weren't completed until 1980 because of a flaws in the armour initially delivered from Creusot-Loire of France. The MkIVs were delivered in three separate batches; two vehicles on June 14, 1979, two more on November 5, 1979, and the last example in 1980.
