The Irrigation Training & Research Center (ITRC) was established in 1989 at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, within the BioResource and Agricultural Engineering Department as a center of excellence, building on a history of contributions to the irrigation industry.

ITRC specializes in the development of high-quality training programs for agricultural irrigation and drainage, plus landscape irrigation. The Designer/Manager School is a comprehensive educational program offering a variety of classes designed for both agricultural and landscape irrigation professionals, taught by the very people who developed them - Stuart Styles (D.Engr., P.E., CID) and Dan Howes (Ph.D., P.E.).
