2018年2月1日 · The portion over Africa was generally adopted as the January and July locations of the ITCZ (Fig. 2). Eventually, the picture emerged of a global zone in which the pressure minimum, cloud and rainfall maxima, and low-level wind convergence coincided.

In January the ITCZ lies about at 15°S over South America and Africa. In July it lies at about 25°N over Africa and about 30°N over Asia. The ITCZ is less mobile over the oceans, where it holds a stationary position just north of the equator.

In July, the ITCZ is located around 20°N-25°N latitudes (over the Gangetic plain), sometimes called the monsoon trough. This monsoon trough creates low pressure area over north and northwest India. Due to this shift of ITCZ, the south-east trade winds of the southern hemisphere cross the equator between 40° and 60°E longitudes.
