It was formed on November 2005 to co-ordinate all efforts of the member countries for ITPEC Examination in cooperation with IPA, Japan.

ITPEC Common Examination is an assessment tool of IT human resources by measuring IT skills and knowledge of IT engineers, and is based on the Information Technology Engineers Examination of Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA), Japan.

ITPEC is a registered trademark of Information Technology Professionals Examination Council (hereinafter called "ITPEC") that is the organization for a common IT examination in Asian countries, ITPEC Examination.

This examination is suitable for IT professionals, analysts from all fields, academics, and other job roles interested in benchmarking their IT knowledge.

ITPEC members have been using the same logo to raise public recognition of the examination and have adopted a common marketing strategy. JITEC-IPA expects to establish multi-lateral mutual recognition agreements, and transform ITPEC into a fully Asia-wide organization.
