What is an ITR-DD? This is a "Confirmation of Diagnosis of Disability " form for an individual taxpayer. A person who has a disability, or whose spouse or child has a disability, needs to have their condition confirmed by a registered medical professional.

On 7 July 2020, SARS issued an updated Confirmation of Diagnosis of Disability form (“ITR-DD”). The form is required by SARS to approve a medical tax credit claim, lodged by taxpayers with disabilities and/or taxpayers who have a dependant with disabilities.

In circumstances where a taxpayer or dependant is entitled to claim an AMTC for disability expenses, the disability must be confirmed by a duly registered medical practitioner through the completion and endorsement of a Confirmation of Diagnosis of Disability (“ITR-DD”) form.
