' Hyphalosaurus or hidden dragon') is a Chinese all-weather 4.5 generation, [2][3] tandem-seat, twin-engine, multirole strike fighter [4][1] built by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation and operated by the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). It is developed from the Shenyang J-11, the licensed production variant of the Russian Sukhoi Su-27. [4]

The Shenyang J-16 is a new Chinese Su-27/33 variation, it was developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation as a Multirole aircraft. It was based on the J-11BS but with enhanced range and upgraded avionics, for example an AESA radar, and it is still in testing phase. The new aircraft can be called an upgraded variant of the Russian made Su-30MKK.
