There's this kit that super fast minis sell to put a Honda j35 engine in the Miata, wasn't sure if anyone who has done this swap has any tips? Or if it's even worth the time and money? 2010年3月8日 · The J swap on the NA and the NB involves an adapter plate to use the stock Miata transmission, rear end, driveshaft and axles. Experience has shown that to be less than ideal solution. If you want to use the full power of the J engine (how could you not want to do that?) you can expect drivetrain failures.

2010年3月8日 · I was responding to your statement about a turbo Miata developing power that that a J35 cannot imagine. Well, I have given you reality proof you are wrong. Obviously lesser power souped up J35s can - and do - exist that have enough power to trash a Miata drivetrain.

To help with the doubled torque output from the J35 applied to the drive train, I'm reducing the rotating mass as much as I can, thus reducing peek flywheel inertia applied to the stock drive train. This clutch and flywheel weighs in at about 19 lbs total and is pretty small in diameter.

2010年3月8日 · Fuel half figured out, got the regulator out my tank, got the fuel inlet for the honda motor adapted to the miata hard line, now I gotta figure out a return line, and the evap emissions related stuff. Wiring is 75% done currently, most of my wires are ran, labeled, or crimped.

2020年5月3日 · Reliability is better. It’s a good reliable Honda engine, with no external oil lines to have leak, and no risk of overboosting and bending a rod. It’s also got torque quicker than the turbo 1.8. Peak power won’t be as high as a tuned turbo engine, but I’m sure it’s plenty fast. J35 with J32 heads is a stout powerhouse.

With the other $3,000 estimate for a Miata with a blown engine, and another $400 for a custom driveshaft, you could easily have a 2300 lb roadster with 300+ bhp NA.
