The Allison J71 was a single spool turbojet engine, designed and built in the United States. It began development in 1948 as a much modified J35, originally designated J35-A-23. [1] The Allison J71 turbojet powered the Douglas B-66 Destroyer and the McDonnell F3H-2 Demon after the failed Westinghouse J40 proved unworkable.

2024年8月8日 · In the late 1940s, the Allison Engine Company created the 16-stage and 16-foot long J71 engine to succeed its TG–190 (J47). In addition to replacing the J40 engine in the F3H-2 Demon aircraft, the 10,200-pound-thrust J71 also powered the Douglas B–66B Destroyer light bomber in the late 1950s and 1960s.
