I have a '86 js550 with a Mariner water box, Ride plate (also mariner) and want to upgrade it some more. What are some mods that aren't to pricey but are worth it? Is a pipe or half pipe more or less restrictive than the OEM breadbox exhaust.

If the engine is decent I would say $400 is a very good price. You will have the 750 electronics, both carbs and all of the vital parts for your ski..

2015年4月20日 · Re: Engine rebuild help, 88 js550 pp Do a complete rebuild, I have never seen a js550 with stock main seals that didn't need to be replaced. Check the ring end gaps. I recommend you look at this thread, and follow my piston, rings, and main seal recommendations. When the 88' was brand new, I would warranty nearly the whole engine because there were so many parts out of spec. Bill M.
