Royal Prussian Jagdstaffel 56, commonly abbreviated to Jasta 56, was a "hunting group" (i.e., fighter squadron) of the Luftstreitkräfte, the air arm of the Imperial German Army during World War I. The squadron would score 63 aerial victories during the war.

2023年12月4日 · According to Frontfleiger's website, Karl Romann was an engineer and as per Rick Duiven's log for Jasta 56 he arrived from JastaSchule I on 15 May 1918. He apparently scored no victories and was killed in a crash at his own airfield on either 14 or 15 August 1918.

Ltn. Kohlpoth Jasta 56
2010年11月11日 · I am trying to discover some more details about Ltn. Kohlpoth of Jasta 56. I know that he claimed a D.H.4 (9?) on the 29th September 1918 and later shot down a Sopwith Camel but this is all that I can currently find out about him. Can anyone help a new member by providing some more information to my very limited knowledge of this man.

By the end of the war he had scored 8 victories - he is shown here in his colourful Fokker D.VII in September 1918. In World War Two he was awarded the Knight's Cross while commanding a unit flying the Junkers Ju52. He died in 1965.
