The Jawi Peranakan (Jawi: جاوي ڤرانقن ‎) is an ethnic group found primarily within the Malaysian state of Penang and in Singapore, both regions were part of the historical Straits Settlements where their culture and history is centred around.

Jawi Peranakan Mansion (JPM), is the latest addition to George Town Heritage Hotels’ collection, also another creation of Chris Ong which consists of 8 mansion rooms and 6 family suites. It was acquired in the year 2012 in a dilapidated state.

As a minority group in the Malay-Muslim community, the Jawi Peranakan developed a fluid identity vis-a-vis their host society.
