The Jonsson Engineering Center (often simply referred to as the JEC), is home to the School of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. It is named for J. Erik Jonsson and was dedicated on 7 October 1977.

The Student Machine Shop is a primary resource for ENGR-1300-Engineering Processes class. In addition to class support the shop is an open project shop. The shop supervisor and staff in the JEC Student Machine Shop will teach you the basics of machine tool operation and welding metals and thermoplastics.

The Jonsson Engineering Center (JEC), home to the School of Engineering, was named for J. Erik Jonsson ’22, co-founder of Texas Instruments. Each floor of the building is dedicated to a different discipline of engineering and contains many major research facilities and a large number of academic classrooms.

The official computer aided machining (CAM) program for creating G-code for operating computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines in the JEC Student Machine Shop, Manufacturing Innovation Learning Lab (MILL), and Haas Tech Center is Mastercam.

Residing on the south end of the '86 Field and located between the Darrin Communications Center and the Greene Building, the Jonsson Engineering Center (JEC), is home to the RPI School of Engineering. Finished in 1977, the building is dedicated to J. Erik Jonsson, who graduated from RPI in 1922 and was the co-founder of Texas Instruments.

Formal dedication of the Jonsson Engineering Cente r took place on October 7, 1977. Plans for a new engineering center were made public in February 1974. The project moved forward quickly due to a pressing need to improve office conditions, facilitate student-faculty contact and faculty collaboration and upgrade laboratory facilities.
