2008年9月27日 · There was a guy in my jeep club who chopped the rear roof off his XJ, but he added tubing/roll bar to strengthen up the rear. He wheeled it hard and ended up twisting the unibody up pretty bad over the years and has pretty much dismantled it. He managed to blow a ford 9" one time jumping in a mud pit, just to give you an idea of how hard he drives.

2005年4月2日 · I've heard them all. Once an XJ has had frame damage, you can't wheel it, it will fold like a taco, mine has had frame damage. If you cut out the rear wheel wells they'll fold like a Taco, mine are cut. If you do a cheromanche conversion without a cage it will fold like a taco. Mine has no cage. But I guess I baby mine too much.

2007年2月23日 · Cut the bottoms off of the factory hinges and trimmed the pins so that the doors just pull out. The passenger side hinges have the pins pressed in upside down and they need to be taken out completely and I replaced them with 1/4" Gr 8 bolts

A roll cage will follow eventually. My question is whether or not it is necessary to do the cage immediately after cutting back the top.

The entire structure of the XJ relies on all this staying in tact. -Reinforce the unibody on the bottom with plating before cutting. Go as far forward and back as you can realistically go. 2010年5月27日 · I was thinking about cutting the roof off, modifying my rear tire carrier to act somewhat like a door, finding a soft top from a blazer or old 4 runner and modifying it to fit the jeep. If nobody has tried this then i'm still going to try it and hope that all comes out well.
