The Board of Natural Resources will act to approve Mr. Cown’s appointment at its September meeting.

Cown will take up the post on Aug. 16 at an annual salary of $190,000. Cown has spent 33 years with the DNR, the last five as director of the parks division.

Jeff Cown was appointed Director of the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources effective August 2023. Georgia EPD protects Georgia’s air, land, and water resources through the authority of state statutes and major parts of five federal environmental statutes.
