Jerry has over 20 years' experience as an Approved Social Worker, manager and training officer within Social Services Departments and the voluntary sector. He has lectured in Higher Education since 1998 and has particular interests in mental health, recovery and social inclusion, whole family approaches and service user involvement.

JERRY TEW is Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Work, University of Central England. He has substantial previous experience as a social work practitioner specializing in mental health, and has published on integrating social and user perspectives within the theory base for professional practice.

Jerry was a decent, upright kid—a good Christian. He was never in any trouble and I don’t even think he had any bad habits. When I think of Jerry, I think of innocence. His death was a tragedy; it still hurts. But it can’t change the kind of person he was. His legacy is one of patriotism, courage, and goodness.
