Bluebird K7 is a jet engined hydroplane in which Britain's Donald Campbell set seven world water speed records between 1955 and 1967. K7 was the first successful jet-powered hydroplane, and was considered revolutionary when launched in January 1955.

We are using two of the more powerful version of the Viper turbojet from the military BAC Strikemaster aircraft to propel our jet hydroplane Longbow. Outside aviation DJ is a keen boater, with a Formula 4 racing powerboat, a classic 1960s speedboat, a steam launch, and he has a variety of other interests ranging from classic cars to fine dining.

Longbow Jet Hydroplane, sponsored by Blackpool Thunder Car Club, continues to work towards making a credible British attempt upon the World Water Speed Record. The Longbow Team’s focus this month has been on the ‘cockpit.’ Though they are still some way from physically producing it, it is certainly no Heath Robinson project.
