The Bible code (Hebrew: הצופן התנ"כי, hatzofen hatanachi), also known as the Torah code, is a purported set of encoded words within a Hebrew text of the Torah that, according to proponents, has predicted significant historical events.

However, the art of extracting and deciphering codes wasn’t given to just anyone who is capable of discovering patterns or adding up the values of letters. Rather, at Sinai, G‑d gave an oral tradition along with the Bible, and that includes ways to decipher the codes within the Bible.

The Torah Code, also known as the Bible Code, is a method described as a hidden code of selecting Equidistant Letter Sequences (ELS) from within the 3,300 year old Hebrew Bible that form words and phrases that demonstrate foreknowledge and prophecy.

One intriguing aspect of this tradition is the exploration of Bible codes. Throughout history, numerous Jewish and Christian scholars, including the renowned scientist Isaac Newton, have attempted to uncover hidden or coded messages within the text of the Bible.

Some of these proponents use the codes to prove the divine origin of the Torah and thereby win Jews over to Orthodoxy. Others, however, especially Drosnin, have gone much further, arguing that the Torah codes can be used to predict future events.

While awaiting his fate during the Holocaust, Rabbi Michoel Weismandel discovered many codes in the Torah, by using index cards and his amazing mental powers. Yet in the end, two key questions remain: Are the Codes statistically significant? And if so, did God put it there, and why?
