Jiajing (born 1507, China—died 1566/67, China) was the reign name (nianhao) of the 11th emperor of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644), whose long reign (1521–66/67) added a degree of stability to the government but whose neglect of official duties ushered in an era of misrule.

The Jiajing Emperor (1507–1567) was the 12th emperor of the Ming dynasty, ruling from 1521 to 1567. His reign was marked by political controversy and reforms.

Zhu Houcong (1507 — 1567), also respected as the Jiajing Emperor or Emperor Shizong of Ming, was a controversial emperor of the Ming Dynasty. He ascended to the throne young and wore the crown for 45 years.

Jiajing refers to the reign of Zhu Houzong, who became the emperor of China during the Ming Dynasty in 1522, following a controversial ascent to the throne that bypassed the traditional line of succession.

2017年9月16日 · In the following year, 1522 AD, he named his reign period "Jiajing" and therefor Zhu Houcong is popularly best known as the Jiajing Emperor of the Ming Dynasty. This Jiajing reign period, although politically difficult, would last for a total of 45 years.

The Jiajing Emperor (16 September 1507 – 23 January 1567), also known by his temple name as the Emperor Shizong of Ming, personal name Zhu Houcong, art names Yaozhai, [1][e]Leixuan, [1][f] and Tianchi Diaosou, [1][g] was the 12th emperor of the Ming dynasty, reigning from 1521 to 1567. He succeeded his cousin, the Zhengde Emperor.

The 11th Ming emperor with reign title of Jiajing ("Admirable Tranquility") was enthroned 27 May 1521 at the age of 15 and reigned for 45 years. Zhu Houcong was the son Zhu Yuyuan (1476 - 1519), King of Xing and the fourth son of the 8th Ming Chenghua Emperor (r. 1465 - 1487).

In celebration of this milestone, the Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA), in collaboration with the renowned Huaihaitang Collection, has organised an exhibition focused on the emperor, titled “Eternal Enlightenment: The Virtual World of Jiajing Emperor”, running from December 9th, 2022 to June 14th, 2023.

Emperor Jiajing, also known as 嘉靖帝, reigned during the illustrious period of the Ming Dynasty from 1566 to 1567. This era, under the rule of Chen Baoguo, saw significant cultural and political developments that shaped the course of Chinese history.
