Jidokwan is one of the original nine schools of the modern Korean martial arts that became Taekwondo and was founded in what is now South Korea at the end of World War II. Its name translates as "School of Wisdom".

Jidokwan, along with Moo Duk Kwan, acting as the main role of modern Taekwondo in Korea. Especially Jidokwan’s unique and intensive training, one would have to defeat three straight competitors to have belt promotion, made the birth for the great athletics for this period.

A long succession of highly regarded champions had Jidokwan training, and by the late 1960s—when the five leading Kwans and other less prominent schools began the process of unification into the organization that would become known as Taekwondo—Jidokwan was one of Korea’s leading martial arts styles.

Jidokwan (or Ji Do Kwan) was the second name used by Yun Moo Kwan, one of the original Nine Kwans (martial arts schools) that was started in Korea after the end of the Japanese occupation of Korea at the end of World War II. Yun Mu Kwan was founded by Chun Sang Sup who disappeared during the Korean War.

The jidokwan is still an active in Korea and the organization is also still alive, and its grand masters and masters still have meetings each year to celebrate and to revive the spirit of this school. JDK supports the world taekwondo academy (kukkiwon), and also the world taekwondo federation (WTF)
