The Class EF65 (EF65形) is a 6-axle (Bo-Bo-Bo wheel arrangement) DC electric locomotive type operated on passenger and freight services in Japan since 1965. A total of 308 locomotives were built between 1965 and 1979, with 52 still in service as of 1 April 2016. [2]

From 2004 onward, the JR Freight livery was simplified by using a single shade of dark blue and light grey. The first EF64-1000, EF64 1015, also underwent refurbishment in 2003, appearing in the then-standard JR Freight two-tone blue and light grey livery.

Initially intended to be 2 sets of 6 car formations, only 6 cars were produced and made up to two formations, set A and set B. Set A had two cab/power cars, and set B was a 4 car set.

The 101 series (101系, 101-kei) was a DC electric multiple unit (EMU) commuter train type introduced in 1957 by Japanese National Railways (JNR), and formerly operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and West Japan Railway Company (JR-West). The last remaining trains were withdrawn in November 2003.

The N-scale model reviewed here is described as an "early" ED75-1000 by Kato, presumably meaning as it appeared when built for JNR, and lacking the later "JR" logo. The model was released in late 2014 with a list price of 6,800 Yen, but as usual for the hobby market, online retailers in Japan discounted the list price.
