Our design philosophy has evolved over time under the leadership of our Founding Partner, John Wardle, and with the commitment and imagination of the broader Partner group: L-R Mathew van Kooy, Jasmin Williamson, James Loder, Meaghan Dwyer and John Wardle.

We are a studio of architects, inventors, designers, and makers that navigate beyond conventional practices into the emerging. From the curiosity of our enquiring minds, we gather together the influences of culture, technology, and crafts, to inspire new stories to be told and design for the unexplored possibilities of tomorrow.

John Wardle established his architectural practice John Wardle Architects (JWA) in Melbourne in 1986 and has led the growth of the practice from working on small domestic dwellings to university buildings, museums and large commercial offices. [1] In 2023 the practice was renamed and rebranded as Wardle. [2]

Highly perceptive to the unique character of every project, John has an innate understanding of the finer scale of materials. His conceptual sketches are known for their densely overlaid nature, a search for the right line for each and every circumstance.
