The Panzerkampfwagen 38 (t), originally known as the Českomoravská Kolben-Daněk (ČKD) LT vz. 38, was a tank designed during the 1930s, which saw extensive service during World War II. [3] . Developed in Czechoslovakia by ČKD, the type was adopted by Nazi Germany following the German occupation of Czechoslovakia. [3] .

It was powered by an enlarged Praga six-cylinder water cooled engine that provided 158hp, which gave it a top speed of 38km/hr on roads (23.5mph). The Hetzer wasn't without its flaws.

The vehicle itself was a new design which incorporated the 75mm PaK 39 gun mounted in a fully armoured fighting compartment complete with 60mm of sloped armour. The 38 (t) chassis was modified and widened, a better engine was also fitted. It also had a remote controlled machine gun located on the roof.
