The Junkers Ju 290 was a large four-engine long-range transport and maritime patrol aircraft designed and produced by the German aircraft manufacturer Junkers. Derived from the Ju 90 airliner, it was a dedicated military heavy transport developed on behalf of the Luftwaffe as a wartime replacement for Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor.

The Ju 290 was built by Junkers, the firm founded by Prof. Hugo Junkers, one of pioneers of all-metal aircraft construction. Junkers had a big name in the construction of giant aircraft, set with the massime G.38 airliner.

Subseries IIIB contains miscellaneous aircraft information and statistics, a small amount of missile information, and information on model airplanes and trains. The subseries also contains a file of patterns for model airplanes. Subseries IIIC contains aircraft drawings, mostly three-view drawings, and aircraft assembly plans.

Ju 290 was a long-range transport, maritime patrol aircraft and bomber used by the Luftwaffe late in World War II. It was developed from earlier Junkers 90 design dating from before the war. A single Ju 290 aircraft, of the A-5 variant, was assigned to Adolf Hitler as his personal transport in early 1945; he would never ride in it. The Ju 290 design was also considered as a candidate for the "Amerika-Bomber" project, and later it was considered as the refueling tanker for the "Amerika-Bomber".
