I have a Main Bedroom suite adjacent to the living room, with a short +/-5 hall between. The transfer duct goes from the hall to main bedroom suite.

I don't want to install it over the doorway frame due to sound and light leaks and there's no going over because there's no attic access. There is an adjacent closet so running it through there seems like the best option.

Maybe if you go ahead with this, put a jumper vent near the floor and another near the ceiling ->the temp difference between floor and ceiling may be sufficient to drive a bit of a convention current when this room is warmer than the rest of the house.

2018年12月30日 · I guess I was over thinking this a bit then. Yes, in my new home the master bath (16x10) does have exterior walls and will likely have a supply. The walk-in closet (9x10 and accessible through the master bath) will not. So then I assume I would size the jump duct for all three from the master bedroom to the hallway.

2017年5月11日 · Jump ducts can provide a bit more privacy for bedrooms than door cuts. It's pretty easy to convert a partition wall stud bay into a jump duct, with a small grille near the floor on one side of the wall, and near the ceiling on the other side, for a longer path, transmitting less light & sound. One could use 4" x 10" or 4 x 12" HVAC vent grilles.

2014年2月19日 · I'm considering installing a jump duct so I'll finally be able to shut the door to my master suite without killing the HVAC performance. This room has four 7" supplies and a door with a 1" undercut plus the gaps around the door providing the return. I've calculated I need a 12" jump duct to make up the difference.
