2010年12月8日 · A jump duct is a large insulated flex duct that connects two ceiling grilles, one just inside the door to the supplied room and the other just on the other side of the door in the hallway ceiling. The sharp bend and variegated surface of the interior lining of the jump duct reduces sound transfer without compromising air movement.
Jumper Duct or Transfer Grille for Central Air Return
2020年10月11日 · Flex has a better chance of keeping noise down, especially if you give it a couple bends along the way. Size it generously - if you know the supply cfm, size the flex for the same flow at 300 fpm in the duct (8" for up to around 100 cfm, 10" for up …
Return air - jump ducts vs transfer duct with baffles ...
2023年1月11日 · The duct transfers already conditioned air, so at least it is not the initial delivery of conditioned air. There is very little if any sound transfer through the transfer duct. Installing Jump Duct through Closet - DIY Home Improvement …
2020年7月5日 · I'm looking to add a jump duct (aka transfer grille) in the second bedroom to help with airflow. Air return: bathrooms and walk-in closets - GreenBuildingAdvisor
2018年12月30日 · I guess I was over thinking this a bit then. Yes, in my new home the master bath (16x10) does have exterior walls and will likely have a supply. The walk-in closet (9x10 and accessible through the master bath) will not. So then I assume I would size the jump duct for all three from the master bedroom to the hallway.
How much should doors be undercut to allow air movement for …
2017年5月11日 · Jump ducts can provide a bit more privacy for bedrooms than door cuts. It's pretty easy to convert a partition wall stud bay into a jump duct, with a small grille near the floor on one side of the wall, and near the ceiling on the other side, for a longer path, transmitting less light & sound. One could use 4" x 10" or 4 x 12" HVAC vent grilles.
Jump duct plan - DIY Home Improvement Forum
2014年2月19日 · I'm considering installing a jump duct so I'll finally be able to shut the door to my master suite without killing the HVAC performance. This room has four 7" supplies and a door with a 1" undercut plus the gaps around the door providing the return. I've calculated I need a 12" jump duct to make up the difference.
