The Rover K-series engine is a series of internal combustion engines built by Powertrain Ltd, a sister company of MG Rover. The engine was a straight-four cylinder built in two forms, SOHC and DOHC, ranging from 1.1 to 1.8 L; 67.9 to 109.6 cu in (1,113 to 1,796 cc).

The Mazda K-series automobile engine is a short stroke 60° 24-valve V6 with belt-driven DOHC and all-aluminium construction. Displacements range from 1.8 L to 2.5 L. They all use a 27-degree DOHC valvetrain with directly actuated hydraulic bucket lifters.

The 1.6L offers a little more power up to 120bhp (I stand to be corrected), but the 1.8L offers 120-135bhp and the 1.8L turbo (75/ZT) or VVC offers 160hp, which is of course academic since removing the catalytic converter and factory airbox will improve breathing (I have heard that a 143bhp VVC unit has been on the rolling road producing 157bhp).
