KBYU-FM (89.1 MHz) is a classical music radio station run by Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. It is known on-air as Classical 89. It is a production of BYU Radio. It transmits at an effective radiated power of 32 kW.

At the time the call letters “KBYU” were assigned to a liberty ship, so on May 9, 1960, BYU began FM broadcasts as KBRG. The FCC assigned the KBYU call letters to BYU’s FM station on May 19, 1960, and on Nov. 9, 1960, KBYU-FM aired its inaugural program.

KBYU’s main functions is to provide news and entertainment to the campus of BYU and the Provo community. In 1979 KBYU-FM switched to a classical selection only, with some news programs as well.
