On 28 December 1977 northbound KCS train 66 (running as Extra 4102 North) was en route from Alexandria to Minden, Louisiana with GP30's 4102 and 4116, when it hit a loaded log truck at the Vine St. grade crossing in Goldonna.

Tragic accident at Goldonna, La. KCS 4102 and 4116 destroyed. Description: On Dec. 28, 1977 a northbound KCS train 66 with 4102 and 4116 hit a loaded log truck that had pulled in front of them. The resulting derailment caused a tank car loaded with LPG to rupture and explode. The two crew men on 4102 did not survive.

A couple of months ago KCS 4116 lead the BNSF Stockton to Denver train over Donner which made a fun chase over the Hill even though it wasn't in the best light. The train arrived in Roseville early in the morning and by the time we got out to the yard I thought the train was long gone, but as soon as I said that dispatcher 57 called KCS 4116 ...

It is based on an old scheme KCS used in the 1950s called the Southern Belle. Here, KCS 4116 is being leased by BNSF and is leading the Stockton to Denver manifest down the Front Range, over the Moffat.
