2013年8月14日 · The KEF 101 was KEF's attempt to build a LS3/5a like speaker (in size) and use their computer aided design model and target function design program. It was designed with no bass bump (ala BBC bump) and meant for small rooms. It was part of the Reference series so is also called the R101.

2015年12月4日 · The 101 has spiraled up in price over the last few years due to association with the LS3/5A . Are they way better than they were a few years ago or is it upward price pressure from internet exposure? When new these sold for less than the 103.2, now they go for more, not far from 105.2 territory.

2019年4月25日 · Just want to give a big shout out to @leesonic who re-capped my 40 year old KEF 101 monitors and brought them back from the dead. I've had the 101's for 12 years but last 4 years they were in storage due to cut-outs in the audio from the old crossovers. I fortunatly ran across a thread about recapping old KEF's crossovers and found leesonic.

2014年12月15日 · Kef reference 101 recap Hi I just bought some vintage Kef reference 101 (SP1122) speakers manufactured august 1980. Before hooking them up I decided to take a look at the crossovers. I am afraid one crossover has a leaking capacitor (picture attached). The other components seemed ok (see picture of the whole crossover).

2017年11月19日 · KEF Reference speakers are excellent as long as they have been maintained correctly. This means changing out the ferrofluid in the tweeters, replacing any rotted foam surrounds and replacing aged crossover capacitors. Whether you got your money's worth is completely up to you but 158 pounds ain't too bad for starters.

2021年1月2日 · Paul.. I just bought a pr of KEF 101's (although not shipped yet) and anticipate at least the tweeters will need rehab. My tendancy with speakers has been to return as close as possible to original factory specs. Saves a Lot of explanation and convincing if later sold.

2023年5月29日 · The KEF Reference 101 speakers were produced from 1979 to 1986 approximately. They use a B110 5-1/4" woofer and a T27 3/4" tweeter. The cabinet measures 13-5/8" high x 7-1/16" wide x 7-1/16" deep, and weighs in at 12lb 2oz without grills, 12lb 7oz with grills. They are a closed box design, with an impedance of 8 ohms.
