Oct 24, 2014 · The 104 seems to go less deep than the rest but the bass is more precise and punchy. The Calinda and Carlton are pretty similar in the low end but the treble is a tad softer on the Carlton compared to the others.

Jul 26, 2015 · Greetings! My uncle has offered to hand down to me a pair of KEF Reference Series Model 104 speakers. He's confirmed that these are the original, not the 104aB or 104/2. I'm very grateful and curious, but would be appreciative of any opinions you may have. I'm content with my Denon PMA-750 integrated amplifier and Polk Monitor 60 speakers.

Jan 18, 2025 · My 104/2's (with new fluid/caps) sound a bit bright when using my Sansui AU-919, but oh so sweet with my B&K ex4420 (mosfet) amp. Many prefer the smoother mosfet sound with their KEF's. After replacing the fluid in mine, the gasket was far from perfect.

Mar 9, 2023 · The 104/2s went to my best friend, who was a big influencer in my introduction to Kef. He had a pair in the 80s, and his was one of three systems I heard at that time that really impressed me and affected the direction I went in.

Jul 10, 2013 · The Kef models 104/2, 102, 103/3 and 107 all had their own, specific Kubes made for only that model. Whereas later Kef speakers like the 103/4 and 105/3 had a Kube that was optional (I believe the 100 and 200 models).

Mar 7, 2013 · Having sold truckloads of the 104/2 and being familiar with the 105.2., I would strongly disagree. The 104/2 were made for North American markets so they were brighter, more upfront, more in your face than the traditional warmer Kef sound which is represented by the older 105. Not a bad thing, just different.
