Study indicates kinesin KLP-4 as a novel regulator of anterograde GLR-1 glutamate receptors trafficking and reveals a cellular control mechanism by which receptor cargo is targeted for degradation in tje absence of its motor. Predicted to enable ATP hydrolysis activity; microtubule binding activity; and microtubule motor activity.
The kinesin-3 family motor KLP-4 regulates anterograde …
2012年9月9日 · In this study, we identify the kinesin KLP-4 as a novel regulator of glutamate receptor trafficking in C. elegans. KLP-4 is a kinesin-3 family member that is distinct from UNC-104/KIF1A and most homologous to Drosophila kinesin Khc-73 …
The Kinesin-3 motor, KLP-4, mediates axonal organization and
2019年6月11日 · Here, we analyzed KLP-4, the Caenorhabditis elegans homologue of human KIF13A and KIF13B. Like other Kinesin-3 superfamily motors, klp-4 is highly expressed in the ventral nerve cord command interneurons of the animal, suggesting it might have a role in controlling movement of the animal.
The kinesin-3 family motor KLP-4 regulates anterograde ... - PubMed
Here we identify a kinesin-3 family motor klp-4/KIF13 in a cdk-5 suppressor screen for genes that regulate GLR-1 trafficking. klp-4 mutants have decreased abundance of GLR-1 in the VNC. Genetic analysis of klp-4 and the clathrin adaptin unc-11/AP180 suggests that klp-4 functions before endocytosis in the ventral cord.
The Role of KLP-4 in Regulating Cholinergic Signaling in vivo
KLP-4 is currently identified as a motor protein that contributes to the regulation of acetylcholine trafficking. KLP-4 as a part of the kinesin-3 super family of motor proteins is especially important due cells’ reliance upon its function as a long distance and highly processive motor protein.

The klp-4 (ok3537) allele results in a large, in frame deletion within the cargo-binding domain of the motor protein, causing unknown molecular consequences. C. elegans containing this allele experience difficulty moving in reverse and disorganized synapses. Cargo that binds to the KLP-4 cargo-binding region is unknown.

Understanding how kinesin motor proteins regulate postsynaptic function ...
2021年11月18日 · Emerging evidence reveals how specific kinesin motor proteins carry cargoes to dendrites, including proteins, mRNAs and organelles that are crucial for synapse development and plasticity. In this review, we will summarize the major kinesin motors and their associated cargoes that have been characterized to regulate postsynaptic function in neuron.
