Kaolinite - Wikipedia
Kaolinite is a soft, earthy, usually white, mineral (dioctahedral phyllosilicate clay), produced by the chemical weathering of aluminium silicate minerals like feldspar. It has a low shrink–swell capacity and a low cation-exchange capacity (1–15 meq/100 g).

Kaolinite can have a lot of layer stacking variation, from highly ordered to highly disordered, while dickite and nacrite are effectively differently ordered polytypes. Poorly crystalline kaolinite is typical of low grade sediments, especially non-marine, while dickite and nacrite form at higher temperature, including many hydrothermal deposits.

2016年10月1日 · Throughout this paper the term kaolin is exclusively used to describe a rock, soil or ore irrespective of its origin, provided that kaolinite-group phyllosilicates prevail over their associates. If a mineralogical issue, e.g., crystallinity or morphology is addressed, the specific technical terms in use for the kaolinite-group minerals are ...

2016年10月1日 · Kaolin, although a rather homogeneous rock, and due to its dull outward appearance not high up on the agenda of mineral enthusiasts and rockhounds, has attracted mining and ceramic engineers involved in the manufacture of chinaware, and economic geologists dealing with non-metallic deposits.
Kaolinite - SpringerLink
From the industrial point of view, kaolin is a clayey rock consisting mostly of kaolinite. Kaolinite is one of the most common minerals on Earth and can be easily identified by its almost pure white color, fine particle size (∼1–2 µm), non-toxicity, very low abrasiveness, and chemical stability.
Kaolinite: The clay mineral kaolinite information and pictures
Kaolinite is a clay mineral, with a soft consistency and earthy texture. It is easily broken and can be molded or shaped, especially when wet. Kaolinite is a lackluster and uninteresting mineral on its own, but it occasionally forms interesting pseudomorph s, especially after feldspar s.
Kaolinite - Rock Identifier
Compared with other clay minerals, kaolinite is chemically and structurally simple. It is described as a 1:1 or TO clay mineral because its crystals consist of stacked TO layers. Each TO layer consists of a tetrahedral (T) sheet composed of silicon and oxygen ions bonded to an octahedral (O) sheet composed of oxygen, aluminum, and hydroxyl ions.
