Gary Karpen is a professor of Cell and Developmental Biology. Research in the Karpen Lab is focused on understanding inheritance, chromatin structure, and the dynamic organization of chromosomes in the nucleus, with a particular emphasis on centromeres, heterochromatin, DNA repair and epigenetics.
