The National Monument of the Kasbah (Arabic: المعلم الوطني بساحة القصبة), more simply called the National Monument, is a memorial monument and a prominent symbol of several events in Tunisia. [1] It is located in the center of the Kasbah Square in Tunis, facing the Town Hall. [2] [3]

It is a big square built during colonial times. In the center, there is the big National Monument, built in 1989 for several events in Tunisia. The square is framed by the Hôtel de ville (municipality administration) and a government building. The square is really big and impressing. Nearby is the Medina, the old town.

Kasba Hammamet is a historic site in the coastal town of Hammamet, Tunisia. It refers to the old fortified medina, or "kasbah," that was originally built as a defensive structure. The Kasbah is located in the center of the town, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and is one of Hammamet's most notable landmarks.

Standing at the high point of the medina, the kasbah was built onto the city walls in the 11th century. It incorporates the imposing square Khalef tower, built by the Aghlabids in AD 859 at the same time as the city walls, which superseded the ribat as the city’s watchtower.

The Kasbah's topmost 50-meter platform above the Ribat, makes it the best place to get views of Medina. After its construction, the Kasbah took over the military role of the Ribat and the Khalaf al Fata Tower is still used as a lighthouse.

I had visited it a number of times before and had been very impressed by this quaint part of Tunis’s capital.
