Kay Brown (b. Eugene, Oregon) is an academically trained printmaker, graphic designer and community activist. Her visually engaging work focuses on experimentation using a variety of printmaking techniques. Her work has been exhibited in the U.S. and Mexico.

This poster is actually an etching by Kay Brown, and is called "First Kick of Life." It depicts a pregnant black woman. One of the main focuses of these popular posters from the time of the Black Arts Movement was to portray black people and especially black families in a positive light.

Kay Brown (1932-2012) was a remarkable African American artist whose work significantly contributed to the representation of Black female artists in the art world. With her innovative techniques and compelling themes, she left an indelible mark on the art community.

Kay Brown (1932–2012) was an African American artist, Printmaker, published author, Graphic and Fashion designer. She graduated at New York City College in 1968, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Sharon Edwards, 71, of Waco, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at Providence Hospice Place. Her family was able to be with her in her final days. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
