Dec 30, 2020 · Mercury KD4 (early) had Eisemann 72H magneto ignition system Bendix Scintilla magneto ignition systems were used on later KD4 The magnetos are entirely different with no parts in common. SO,,,first order of business is to find out which magneto is on your KD4. and report back. Magnetos are not my strong point so hopefully some one will share

Sep 6, 2015 · Alright, well, at least this conversation has reset my expectations for the motor. My first couple internet searches led me to an Ebay posting that someone had put up, and the initial bid was set around $ 900 for the same motor/condition, but I don’t think it was sold, and now I can understand why.

Jan 15, 2020 · I’ve been examining gear case parts between the 1946 (runner) and 1947 (parts) Mercury KD4, and seeing what and if I could switch around using some of the best parts. It appears I can use the 1947 gear case with the vane type water pump impeller (as opposed to the wobbler style pump in the 1946) and the good gears from the 1946.

Aug 7, 2018 · KD4 rope plate starter model was offered in 1946. The oscillator is correct for that year and model. All you need to convert is 3 slit water pump housing, impeller drive hub and vane type impeller. Remove prop shaft gear assembly from present water pump housing and install in 3 slit water pump housing to maintain gear match up.
